Nominations for the third annual Governor’s Five-Star Award for Customer Excellence (FACE) have officially opened.
Whether you are a member of the general public, or a fellow civil servant, everyone has the opportunity to identify civil servants who go the extra mile to provide outstanding customer service. HE the Governor Stuart Jack CVO encourages people for the third consecutive year to come forward with their customer service stories.
Speaking at the official launch of this year’s FACE programme on Wednesday, 2 September, he said,
"Often times, a simple gesture of appreciation can unlock an individual’s energy and creativity. I want to give you an opportunity to celebrate. An opportunity to celebrate those civil servants who go the extra mile to provide outstanding customer service to you, the general public and fellow civil servants."
"This year’s award programme has a special meaning for me not only because it is my last FACE awards but more importantly because our civil servants find themselves in the midst of the global recession, having to deal with an unprecedented rapid decline in revenue. At the same time there are increasing pressures on department and agency staff to deliver more services in spite of reduced funding."
"I believe appreciation is a powerful motivator that will encourage our civil servants to keep building upon their successes – particularly during challenging times, when we need it the most." Mr. Jack concluded.
The FACE honour programme, initiated by the Governor and administered by the Portfolio of the Civil Service (POCS), was created two years ago as an ongoing programme to encourage, motivate and support all civil servants.
This year’s FACE nomination period ends on Wednesday, 7 October and nominees will again be honoured at a Government House reception.
